maadathy-teaser launching
November 11, 2019
My beloved comrade, actor and filmmaker will unveil Maadathy – An Unfairy Tale’s teaser today evening. Am all nervous because this is the first ever piece of the film that is getting out to the whole world.
Yesterday, my dear friend and filmmaker Arunmozhi Sivaprakasam passed away. He was very fond of Nandita Das as an actor and filmmaker. He always wished well for me and my films.
I dedicate the teaser to Arunmozhi’s independent spirit.

Atlast I have one shareable photograph from the redcarpet @부산국제영화제 Busan International Film Festival (BIFF)
Not in good health. No designer clothes. No makeup. No hairdresser. No publicist. No photographer. But I did walk the redcarpet with my film in spirit as my companion.

After almost fifty international film festivals across the globe, this dear film of mine is getting screened in my beloved city of Coimbatore.
Please excuse me for my absence as I am not doing very well healthwise after all the long travels and frenzy. I request all my kovai friends to make it to the screening and support the festival in high spirit.
Is it too much to ask? | Leena Manimekalai | India | English | 2016 | 30 mins
This documentary follows the journey of two friends, Smiley and Glady, looking for a rental apartment in Chennai and the obstacles and social stigma they encounter in not just looking for a home but being single and the fact that they are transgender women. They turn their anger and frustrations into songs, dance, plays and their work of art continues to supply them the hope to live.
