DE CANNES 2019

Surreal moment in Cannes2019. Met Abhayanand Singh at Singapore South Asian international Film Festival(Sgaiff) two years ago, when my documentary Is it too much to ask won the best documentary prize there. I went again to the market pitch at the same festival to compete for the finishing funds. Now his GoldenRatio Films(Producers of Fakir and Bhonsle) is one of the Co-Producers of “Maadathy”.
I met Francois CohenSeat(Candide Films) when I attended Producers Network, Cannes2018, supported by S R Prabhu (DWP). When I came to know he was the producer of Catherine Breillet’s films, I was thanking life with more than two hands. She is a (S)Hero filmmaker for me. I have written poems dedicated to her films. He is now producing my other film “Sunshine” and it is finally taking off after years of persuant struggles. He loved “Maadathy” and he has taken up distribution of the film in Europe.
Bhavana GV who has earlier co-produced ‘Mantra’ starring Kalki Koechlin and Rajat Kapur and other award winning short films came on board through facebook post shared by Premendra Mazumder and co-owned up “Maadathy”. She is now heading productions in “Karuvachy Films”.
We all met yesterday in Creative Europe at @Marché du Film – Festival de Cannes, finally face to face and it brought me tears and joy at the same time. We are together in our journey now.
Thanks to all the backers who supported “Maadathy” in crowd funding and to my co-producers and to my crew and cast, “Maadathy” is ready to take its baby steps.
I kept my trust and never stopped trying through the highs and lows of the path,
I had chosen. Believe me, if we persist, the tunnel ends sooner or later to show us the light.
Feeling grateful and blessed. 😌
(#Maadathy is my second feature fiction that just got completed and currently at a tiff with Indian Censor Board)

I met her in Facebook. She is one of the first responses to my call for co-producers to help me finish my film, ”Maadathy-an unfairy tale”. Then she watched the screener, we spoke in messenger, whatsapp, voice phone, mails and in whatever means possible. We lived in different time zones as she works as Data Scientist in Minnesota but our thirst for poetry and original cinema connected us. She came on board and since then she is been a confidante and rocksolid support in all my endeavours. We finally meet here in Marche du Film, Cannes 2019. We are now together setting up distribution for a finished film, coproduction for another film and planning our roadmap for a project that we are developing together. Karuvachy Films shines with all the goodness my comrades bring in. Sister Power ✊🏽
