“My Story is Your Story” traces the life and struggles of Rahanas PP, now a law graduate and a volunteer at Nirbhaya legal Cell, Government of Kerala, who survived sexual violence as a minor by her own father. The film follows her journey on on how she triumphed her tragic past and why she wants to give back to the community.
The narrative comprises of lightning testimonies by Rahanas, her mother, her siblings, her father who is a convict in Kannur Jail now, the activists, lawyers and all the key people who lent their shoulders in her fight. The role of government of Kerala in her case is crucial from legal-help to safe-shelter to psychosocial care to support system to continue her studies and it has shaped her to what she is now and the film highlights the role of the state as a parent of the victim.
Rahanas is a willing contributor of her life story and that gives the film a lot of room to reflect on her internal battles with herself.Why she decided to speak up and chose to fight the fight is the critical point, the film ponders on and subsequently follows the emotional graph through the entire war like process she committed herself into.
