Synopsis

Mathamma captures a peculiar practice of the folks of Arundhatiyar community in Mangattucheri village near Arakkonam, Chennai, of offering female children to their deity Mathamma to fulfill their prayers to God. The offered female child then becomes a property of the temple and the village, rechristened as Mathamma.
